Oh! But Meghan, it’s not even Thanksgiving yet! I know. I get it. If only this was something you could ignore until after the Turkey is cleaned up and dishes are done. Cold, hard fact of the day? Cards take time to accomplish. What if you just got them done and waited until after turkey to address and send them? I wish I could snap my fingers and have those puppies magically appear already stuffed, addressed and stamped. Bonus points if there’s a witty little letter enclosed. But for me, they take some fore thought. So lets start at the beginning.

When one is crafting the perfect card that will represent your family best to all your people across the country it starts with picking the perfect photographer. You’re here on this site so you can give a great big CHECK to that box. If you’re lucky, you can be one of my last few clients to snag a November session and still get in on my mini package (not session, package) click here for the info, then scroll your happily little hiney to the bottom of that page, read the Christmas Card info and fill in the contact me boxes.

Next comes the outfits. Oh the good and holy stress that comes with this phase. But let me tell you that Pinterest has all the goods to help you figure this one out. Search your favorite color + picture outfits/wardrobe/styles. But my personal rule of thumb? Mama, you go pick your most favorite outfit first. You know that saying “if Mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy”? yeah. That applies to how you look in pictures too. It’s been my experience over the years that when Mama loves her outfit, she loves her pictures. My family this year will be going with a green and gray palate. Why? Because I’m Mama and I look good in green. Plus, I got some great green Hunter Wellies that I desperately want to have their picture taken. The back-up? Seahawks gear. Why? Because the boys smile better in their favorite sports team, plus, see my comment about me looking good in green – any shade. Also? We love them Hawks.

So the photos are done, your photographer has swapped all the heads so that everyone is smiling and looking amazing. You’ve picked your favorite image(s) now what? Well, you ask your amazing photographer to design you up something gorgeous. Why your photographer and not your local box store? A) because shop local… duh. B) because I used my color calibrated monitor to make sure your skin color was perfect and I’ll use my professional lab to have them printed so that you don’t come out looking oompa looma orange or sickly green.
